IPS-N Kishka
A militarized version of the IPS-N “Parrot” loader exo-skeleton, the Kishka utilized a combination of tiltrotor and jet booster to achieve stable flight and adequate maneuverability in all enviroment, with its loader-derived frame allowing to carry a substantial ammount of arms and equipment. Capable of functioning as both part of “seek and destroy”, the Kishka combined great mobility, small profile, and IPS-N state of the art sensor system to be able to find, locate and destroy threats no matter how slippery they might be.
——
Size ½ IPS-N Support/Artillery. Decent stats all around, good evasion and speed, nice sensor and tech attack. Bad tech defense and save target. Main/Aux
Traits Ideas:
- VTOLS: The Kishka can hover when it moves
- Scouting Run: At rest, you may ask the DM for the next Sitrep if its not alreadu known. At battle start, you may scan up to three enemies mech for free.
- Threat Assesment Protcol: The first time an enemy mech enters your sensor range, you can Lock-On for free
Core Power: Interceptor Package
Passive: When an enemy attack with a launcher weapon, draw the line of its attack. If this line intersect within range 3 of the Kishka, roll a 1d6. On a 5 or higher, the attack misses.
Active: As a quick action, move in a line equal to your speed, leaving behind a trail of flairs and nano-smoke. Enemies cannot draw line of sight through the trail for 1 round. After 1 round, it degrades to soft cover, before disapating in 2 rds. This Core Power is Efficent
Liscense Idea:
- Skyfire AA Twin Autocannon: Explosive Main cannon, reliable. When consuming lock on, it always hit
- Anglerfish guided missiles: Explosive Aux Launcers. SMART Seeker. Cannot fire normally, fire automatically whenever Lock-On is consumed within your sensor range
- White Phosphorous Flare: Launcher mod. Enemies hit by the launcher must suceed on a Hull Check or take 1 burn and be revealed, bypassing invisible or soft cover
- Jet Exhaust Amplifier: When you boost, you deal Heat to adjacent enemies and leave behind a 1rd soft cover
- Reinforced Loader Arm: You count as 1 size larger when carrying objects or other mech. Additonally, your improvised attacks deals extra damage
- System Link: Limited System. Choose an ally. For the rest of the scene, you share sensors and LoS targets.
Index Astartes from White Dwarf 260 (August 2001).
One of my favourite bits of 40k background/lore/fluff/writing in general.
Emperor have mercy on my soul, ………………. created monsters here!
Was idly re-reading the White Dwarf in question and came across this again, remembering how awesome it is. Don’t revive that enormous man-thing you found somehow still alive in that abandoned laboratory! It’s probably a bad idea.
And the implication that Fabius Bile had something to do with the cursed founding? Neat. That ever get followed up on at all?
(Also the fact that it’s not even stated who the guy who shows up is, but that he’s described as:
From his build I knew he must be a [fragment destroyed] but his armour was adorned with symbols and runes that made my eyes sting to look upon them. Over his shoulders hundred a grotesque device with obscene mechanical limbs like a spider reaching forward, each one ending in what appeared to be a bizarre weapon or torture device
Kind of heavy implication.)
HEY CALIFORNIA PEOPLE!
HURRICANE ADVICE FROM A FLORIDIAN!
Make sure you’ve got shelf-stable food and water for everyone in the house, including pets. The rule of thumb is a gallon per person per day. Freeze water bottles if you want cold water.
Make sure you have enough meds!
Make sure you have batteries, candles, flashlights, and a manual can opener.
Make sure your electronics, including backup batteries, are charged. Unplug things you don’t want fried in case of a power surge.
Don’t tape your windows, it doesn’t help and you’ll just be stuck scrubbing goo off of them later.
Put a mug of frozen water in it in your freezer with a quarter on top of it. If your freezer defrosts, the ice will melt and the quarter will sink and tell you you need to throw things out.
Get everything that’s not nailed to a foundation out of your yard. That dead branch hanging on by a thread? Time to get it down (it was probably time to do that three days ago, but now’s better than never).
Park away from powerlines and trees if you can. Rain makes the ground soft and then trees fall over.
Have an evacuation plan to a shelter. Evacuate if they’re telling you to.
If you start to flood, don’t go in your attic. You’ll get trapped if the water rises too high and you can’t hack through your roof. This happened to a lot of people in Texas and Louisiana. Get ON the roof.
Be safe, be well <3
What the fuck?
???? WHAT???
Ngl, “tropical storm in death valley” was not on my 2023 bingo card.
Drainage on our roads is shitty in SoCal, don’t attempt to drive through water deep enough to touch your bumpers and don’t attempt to walk across moving water, water only as deep as your ankles can knock you down and sweep you away.
Predicted wind speeds are similar to strong Santa Anas, so lock things down like you would for that, though keep in mind that yeah the combination of heavy rain and wind leads to more felled trees than just wind.
Take photos of the inside of your home now; flood insurance fucking sucks here and if you’re in a possible flood zone you want as much documentation of your home and belongings as possible in case you need to make a claim.
Freezing water bottles also means you’ve got a lot of ice in your freezer if power goes out, and safe potable water once it thaws, so freeze bottles of water to have something to keep your fridge and freezer cool and store more water regardless of if you want cold water.
If you haven’t already, check the website for your local fire department — they likely have self-serve sandbags available for free. There’s a limit of 10 per household in most places, but only take as many as you actually need. Help your neighbors carry their sandbags to their cars while you’re waiting if you can! It makes the whole process faster for everyone :)
You can use tightly sealed trash bags filled with dirt/sand in a pinch if you can’t pick up sandbags. Also use waterproof tarps to help keep water from getting under doors.
Fill a cooler with ice now in case the power goes out.
Stuff like canned tuna is a good source of protein if you can’t cook during the storm.
Charge your portable battery packs!
Move anything that could be damaged by water to a higher location—especially if you have stuff stored in boxes on the floor of your garage. Garage doors tend to be the weakest point when it comes to flood waters.
